Andres Iniesta: It was weird to play against Barcelona

Former Barcelona captain Andres Iniesta has explained “it was weird” to face his old club on Saturday with Vissel Kobe.

Iniesta ended 22 years of service to Barca last summer as he joined the J-League side, and he has been taking Japanese classes every week to help his adaptation.

“It was both weird and special but once the game starts, you worry about playing and giving a good image of yourself,” Iniesta said, as cited by Marca.

“It has been strange to play against them and not as my teammates. I have enjoyed and savored it of course. Overall, I think we have not been bad in the game. It has been a special day. I am happy.

“I do not feel any regret, that is something very strong. I wish I had felt the desire or the strength to continue playing with Barça. I would have loved to come here with Barça to play against Vissel, but my moment has passed.
