FC Barcelona's opening game of the 2019-20 La Liga season, at Athletic Bilabo, has been rescheduled for August 17.
The game at San Mames was originally set for the evening of August 16, as the curtain raiser for the new season, however that was criticised as it would mean playing on a Friday night.
Fans from across the league criticised La Liga throughout the 2018-19 season for playing games on Monday and Friday nights, with transport and other issues making it difficult for away fans to attend games.
The league had previously stated they were willing to listen to fan demands, and ensure that all football would be played either at the weekend or on specified midweek nights.
However the initial decision to schedule this tie for a Friday night was roundly criticised, and a ruling from the league's judicial department has now moved the game and stated that the first three rounds of competition in 2019-20 must be played on a weekend.
