Wolves to loan Real Madrid’s Jesus Vallejo

Real Madrid defender Jesus Vallejo is set to join Wolverhampton Wanderers on a season-long loan deal, according to Marca.

It is claimed that the Midlands club have struck an agreement for the Spaniard – who was likely to be a fringe player in the Spanish capital next season.

The 22-year-old played just seven times last season and just four starts in La Liga with youth graduate Javi Sanchez preferred even with the club’s injury crisis.

Vallejo was brought into the first-team squad at Madrid last season and has made a total of 15 appearances following a previous loan stints at Real Zaragoza and Eintracht Frankfurt.

However, the arrival of €50m central defender Eder Militao from FC Porto had clouded his future and he is now set for a move to English football.

Vallejo’s contract at Madrid expires in the summer of 2021 but there are suggestions that this deal will be extended to allow the club to then make a decision of integrating him into their first-team squad or negotiating a permanent sale.
