Atletico Madrid want Napoli midfielder Fabian Ruiz

Atletico Madrid have been linked with a summer move for Napoli midfielder and Spain Under-21 star Fabian Ruiz, according to Diario AS.

The 23-year-old – who has also been linked to Real Madrid – is said by Napoli to be ‘non-transferable’ but the report adds that Atleti sporting director Andrea Berta ‘is fondly in love with the midfielder’ and will pursue a deal.

Fabian received his first senior Spain cap last month and has impressed in his debut Serie A season – scoring seven goals and providing three assists – following a €30m transfer from Real Betis last summer.

“I have a contract here and I am happy here, the fans can rest assured,” Fabian had previously been cited as saying by Marca.

“I thank the fans for the support they have given me, thank you for your love, my welcome at the club has been very positive.

“Playing with good players is always better and I think Rodrigo (Moreno, Valencia) is an excellent striker, all teams would like to have him and he would be very happy if he signed up for us.

“Both he and James (Rodriguez, Real Madrid) are great names, if they arrived at Napoli they would be welcome.”
