FC Barcelona want to bring back Victor Valdes

FC Barcelona are working on a deal to bring former goal keeper Victor Valdes back to the club as a youth coach.

Catalan radio station Ser Catalunya revealed the story at the start of July, and club president Josep Bartomeu confirmed that negotiations are ongoing with the 37-year old.

"I spoke with Valdes a few days ago, and he asked me 'Presi, is it not time to come home'?

"I asked him to give me some time to think about it, and where he could fit in to our youth set up.

"We will be making an offer to him in the coming days."

Valdes has completed all of his relevant youth coaching qualification, and he is currently working as a coach at ED Moratalaz in the fifth tier of Spanish football, following his retirement as a professional.

As a La Masia youth team graduate himself, Valdes won six La Liga titles and three Champions Leagues in a 12-year career at the Camp Nou between 2002 and 2014.

After leaving Spain he played for Manchester United, Standard Liege and Middlesbrough.
