Tottenham may not be able to fund a move for Real Betis midfielder Giovani Lo Celso this summer should Christian Eriksen not be sold.
El Mundo Deportivo outline how Spurs need to stump up at least €75m for Los Verdiblancos to consider parting company with the Argentina international.
Eriksen, who has a market valuation of €70m, has long been linked with a move to Real Madrid but as yet there has been no substantial progress for his exit from North London.
Tottenham are thought to be the favoured destination of Lo Celso but Manchester United – who possess greater financial muscle – have also been linked with a move.
Spurs have reportedly made a bid in the region of €60m for the highly-rated midfielder, with BBC Sport outlining the details of the bid, although the Seville-based club hold a €100m release clause.
The Argentine international had been on a season-long loan deal at Los Verdiblancos from Paris Saint-Germain before joining permanently last month in a €22m deal.
Last month, Marca verified a report from Diario de Sevilla that Spurs lodged a €60m bid for the 23-year-old, who netted 16 goals for Betis last season in an impressive individual campaign.
The central midfielder starred for the club last season and was one of the standout players in the Spanish topflight, leading to links with a series of top clubs.
Marca also claimed United have contacted Betis regarding their interest in a deal.
PSG would retain 20% of any future deal for the midfielder but his release clause of €100m gives Betis a strong position in any negotiation.
Despite missing out on European football, their idea is to retain the player for one more season but their hand may be forced by an outlandish fee.
