Atletico Madrid defender Sime Vrsaljko faces a totally uncertain future at the club as he recovers from a long-term knee injury, say Marca.
The full-back was enjoying a season-long loan deal at Inter last season but suffered the injury early this year and returned to Los Rojiblancos to begin the recovery process.
The Croatian international joined the Nerazzuri from Atleti on a €6.5m loan for the season with a €17.5m option to but he was limited to just 13 appearances this season due to injury.
The Milanese giants immediately replaced him with fellow right-back Cedric Soares, who signed from Southampton, and it appears unlikely he will return to the club any time soon.
In any case, there appears to be zero chance of the former Sassuolo defender leaving Atleti this summer due to his injury – and he is not expected to recover for a further several months at least.
He may indeed have a future role in Diego Simeone’s side due to a series of defensive departures this summer including full-backs Juanfran Torres and Filipe Luis, with Diego Godin and Lucas Hernandez also departing.
