Milan to sign Real Madrid defender Theo Hernandez

Real Madrid full-back Theo Hernandez will join Milan on a five-year contract in a deal worth €20m, according to Diario AS.

The report claims that the Spanish defender will travel to Italy on Monday before putting pen to paper to join the Milanese giants.

The information has been verified by a number of outlets including Italian transfer guru Gianluca Di Marzio, with a deal now said to be imminent.

Theo was signed by Madrid from city rivals Atletico in the summer of 2017 in a landmark deal worth a reported €30m but his career has stalled since.

He started just ten La Liga matches in his first season with Los Blancos and failed to dislodge long-standing first-choice left-back Marcelo at the club.

Marcelo’s future is safe at the club following the return of boss Zinedine Zidane while Ferland Mendy has arrived from Lyon this summer in a €55m move.

Theo was subsequently loaned to La Real this season but once again has struggled, featuring in just 24 league games this season and recently being left out of matchday squads entirely.

Napoli were previously reported to be keen on the player with boss Carlo Ancelotti a particular admirer, while it is pointed out that Theo also shares the same agent as Napoli forward Jose Callejon.

Bayer Leverkusen have also been linked with a move to the defender.
