Celta Vigo have completed the signing of Barcelona midfielder Denis Suarez on a four-year contract, it has been confirmed.
On Saturday, Catalan radio station RAC1 detail how Denis will join the Galician club rather than Valencia in a deal worth €15m and put pen to paper on a five-year contract.
It followed reports which claimed that the player had been offered a higher salary by Celta although his previous desire was to be reunited with Coach Marcelino Garcia Toral at the Mestalla.
Denis – who worked under current Valencia boss Marcelino at Villarreal – was loaned to Arsenal in January but endured an underwhelming stint in North London which was undermined by injuries and a failure to settle in the British capital.
However, his future ‘has undergone a significant change’ since Thursday and Valencia’s negotiations drifting further apart and creating the opening for Celta to pounce for the player.
Los Che have already signed goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen from Barcelona and their reported additions of Rafinha Alcantara and Denis Cheryshev have meant sufficient funds were not directed towards Suarez’s wages.
The player has returned to the club where he began his career eight years ago before joining Manchester City.
