Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola wants Real Madrid’s Isco

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is insistent that his club should sign Real Madrid playmaker Isco this summer, report Marca.

It is said that the former Barcelona Coach views the Spain international as the ideal replacement for David Silva, who confirmed this week that he will be leaving City at the end of the forthcoming season.

Zinedine Zidane is thought to be a keen admirer of Isco but equally would not block a transfer should a big-money offer come in from elsewhere.

It is said by the report that whilst Madrid are not looking to sell the former Malaga star, they would listen to offers in excess of €80m for his signature.

Juventus, Milan and City have been among the clubs linked to the Spain international but no formal offer has yet been made, the report adds.

Previous reports have cited former Juve midfielder Andrea Pirlo, who has said: “Juventus need a player like Isco, immediately.”

The 26-year-old had been frozen out of the starting XI by previous Madrid boss Santiago Solari – not starting a match across La Liga or the Champions League under the Frenchman’s predecessor.

Isco has a contract at the Santiago Bernabeu until 2021 but found the net just three times in a mere 11 La Liga starts last season, with his future appearing to be in the balance.

It appears unlikely that the former Malaga playmaker will be a regular in Madrid’s line-up next season but any sale would be a reluctant one.
