Celta Vigo, Valencia battle for Barcelona’s Denis Suarez

Barcelona midfielder Denis Suarez has confirmed he wants to leave the club this summer while Celta Vigo are thought to have made an offer.

The central midfielder looks certain to exit the Camp Nou but his destination is yet unclear, with the player said to hold a preference for a club playing in European football next season.

Denis – who worked under current Valencia boss Marcelino at Villarreal – was loaned to Arsenal in January but endured an underwhelming stint in North London which was undermined by injuries and a failure to settle in the British capital.

“I want to play and feel great again,” Suarez is cited as saying by Cadena Cope.

“At the end of the season there is a European Championship and I also want go with Spain.”

The midfielder, formerly of Sevilla and Villarreal, joined the club from Manchester City in 2013 and it is claimed that the Catalan giants value him in the region of €15m.

Another Barca midfielder, Rafinha Alcantara, has been heavily linked with a summer exit while Andre Gomes is expected to join Everton in a permanent deal.
