Chelsea reject Barcelona approach for Willian

Chelsea have rejected offers of €40m from both Barcelona and Atletico Madrid for forward Willian, according to reports.

Diario Sport cite a report from Skysports that claims that the Blues have rejected the approaches for the 30-year-old, who is out of contract at Stamford Bridge next summer.

It is said that Chelsea’s resistance to doing any deal for the player stems from the fact they have sold Eden Hazard to Real Madrid and are currently under a FIFA-imposed transfer ban.

The Blues, who are currently without a manager after Maurizio Sarri departed for Juventus, are therefore extremely reluctant to lose any more players ahead of next season.

It was claimed that last summer the Catalan giants saw a series of bids for the Brazilian turned down culminating in a €72m offer, but still the Europa League winners would not sell the wideman.

Willian has spent six seasons at Stamford Bridge but struggled for form last season, netting just three goals across 26 Premier League starts and falling slightly from prominence.
