FC Barcelona are hoping to offload midfielder Denis Suarez before their pre-season campaign gets underway in July 2019.
According to reports in Catalan newspaper Mundo Deportivo, the La Liga champions are willing to sell the 25-year old in a cut-price deal in order to free up space in their first team.
Suarez joined Ernesto Valverde's side at the start of the 2017-18 season, however he has struggled to establish himself as a first team regular, and endured a nightmare loan spell at Arsenal in 2018-19.
Former club Valencia are the front runners to sign him, with club president Mateu Alemany confirming they have made contact with La Blaugrana over a potential €20m transfer.
All of the necessary pieces appear to be in place, with Suarez confirming he wants to leave and hailing Marcelino as the best coach he has worked with in his career.
However, FC Barcelona are under no obligation to sell him back to Valencia, as they hold out for the full fee and interest from Celta Vigo – who are more willing to pay the price – could yet scupper a deal.
Marcelino's best hope is that FC Barcelona's keenness to get the deal done could see them lower their demands to facilitate a smooth move.
