Eden Hazard ‘aiming to be the best in the world’ at Real Madrid

New Real Madrid signing Eden Hazard believes the club can be the platform where he develops as the best player in the world.

The Belgian joined Madrid for a club record fee of €100m from Chelsea, with a potential €20m extra in additional performance related bonuses, should he hit the ground running in Madrid.

“I will try to be the best player in the world here,” Hazard told reporters at his introductory press conference, as cited by Marca.

“I would like to thank the President and my family; I really want to start playing with Madrid in the next month and win many titles here.

“I have been a fan of Madrid since I was a child and I have been dreaming of this since I was little, I always supported Real Madrid, then I went to France and England and now I wear this shirt and it's an honour.

“Everybody knows that (Madrid boss, Zinedine) Zidane was my idol and that now he's the Coach, that is a very important factor, but I've always wanted to play for this club.

“When you play for Madrid there is not a single star, I am the new one of the team and I will try to contribute the most I can.

“Will I take penalties? The captain takes them very well, if he asks me, and I do not think he will, then I will take them.

“I'm in the best moment of my career, between the ages of 27 and 32. The dream has always been there and it all started after the World Cup, but I spent another year at Chelsea, it was a great year for us, this was the best time to sign for Real Madrid.”
