Former Real Madrid coach Guti leaves Besiktas

Former Real Madrid youth team coach Guti has left his coaching capacity at Turkish giants Besiktas, it has been confirmed.

El Mundo Deportivo report on the 42-year-old’s ‘amicable exit’ from the club, including waiving the final part of his salary from the remaining year on his contract.

The Istanbul-based giants endured a tough season with financial constraints off the pitch leading to below-par results on the pitch, and Guti – assistant manager at the club – was among those to have his deals cut.

The former Madrid midfielder left his role with the club’s Juvenil side last summer after five years to be number two to Senol Gunes at the Turkish giants.

However, it is now thought that he will seek a return to Spanish football this summer and is ‘willing to listen to offers’ that may be attractive.

Guti won 15 honours with Madrid as a player including five league titles and three Champions League crowns, while he also won the Turkish Cup in 2011 whilst at Besiktas.

He netted three times in 13 international caps for Spain.
