Marcelino: This is an unforgettable night

Valencia CF boss Marcelino was full of praise for his side after they secured their first Copa del Rey title since 2008.

Los Che ended Barcelona's hopes of a second successive domestic double with a 2-1 win over Ernesto Valverde's side at the Estadio Benito Villamarin.

The win is Valencia's first major honour in over a decade and the former Villarreal manager encouraged fans to enjoy their celebrations in Andalusia.

"Tonight is an unforgettable night, for me, the players and for the fans.

"Three or four months ago we could not have imagined this, but we deserve it.

"This is the happiest day of my career and I want to thank my family and everyone involved with the club."

Marcelino steered the club to another successive top four finish, the first time they have qualified for the Champions League for back to back seasons for the first time since 2012.

The 53-year old also took the time to congratulate FC Barcelona on securing the La Liga title and dedicated the win to his father, who sadly passed away earlier this year.
