Vinicius Junior ruled out of Brazil’s Copa America squad

Real Madrid forward Vinicius Junior will not feature for Brazil in this summer's Copa America tournament due to an ankle injury.

The 18-year old, who enjoyed a fantastic start to life at the Santiago Bernabeu, however after suffering the injury against Ajax in the Champions League last 16 back in March, he has played just once since.

Zinedine Zidane is keen to ensure that his rising star is given a full rest period this summer, to allow the former Flamengo star to have a full pre-season with the La Liga side. 

He may play some role in Real Madrid's final game of the season, at home to Real Betis this weekend, but Zidane has already informed Brazilian manager Tite's of his wishes.

Vinicius, who is yet to represent the Selecao at senior level, was placed on a standby list earlier this week, however he is now set to remain in Spain for the summer.

Real Madrid team mate Casemiro was called up to the 23-man squad, with the incoming Eder Militao also being rewarded with a place, following a fine campaign with Porto.
