Napoli move for Atletico Madrid’s Santiago Arias

Atletico Madrid are prepared to sell full-back Santiago Arias to Napoli after just one season, according to a report in Marca.

The Colombian only joined Atleti last summer from PSV Eindhoven but is now set to join the summer defensive exodus at the club, with a mass exodus of players.

Lucas Hernandez has already agreed a move to Bayern Munich while Diego Godin is exiting the club while Filipe Luis and Juanfran Torres are both also out of contract.

Arias has made 33 first-team appearances for Diego Simeone’s side this campaign but the report claims the Argentine boss is now willing to sell him in order to reshape his squad.

His move from Eindhoven last summer cost the capital-based club just €10m and it is claimed they are confident not only of recouping this amount but doubling his fee.

Capable of playing on either side of a back four, the full-back – who impressed at last summer’s World Cup – has a current release clause of €40m at Los Rojiblancos.
