Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk a doubt for Barcelona tie

Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk is a doubt for the Champions League semi-final second leg against Barcelona, report Marca.

Roberto Firmino, Naby Keita and Mohamed Salah have already been ruled out by the club’s medical staff while the Dutch international missed Monday’s training session.

The club confirmed the defender’s absence from the session although it is still possible that he will be available for selection for Tuesday night’s match against the Blaugrana.

The PFA Players' Player of the Year is said to have taken part in an individual training session along with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Adam Lallana.

It is unclear what triggered van Dijk’s absence from the training session, having completed the first leg of the match along with Saturday’s trip to Newcastle United.

Liverpool’s task is growing increasingly sizable with three key first-team players unavailable, including forwards Firmino and Salah.

Divock Origi and Rhian Brewster may both be in line to be involved in the clash, in which the Catalan giants lead 3-0 following the first leg result at the Camp Nou last week.
