Lionel Messi sends message of support to Iker Casillas

Barcelona skipper Lionel Messi has sent a message of support to former Real Madrid goal keeper Iker Casillas – after he suffered a heart attack during a training session yesterday afternoon.

The veteran former Spanish international, now with Porto, was taken to hospital and an official statement from the club stated that he is recovering well with no lasting damage to his health.

Despite a staunch rivalry over the years between Real Madrid and Barcelona, current and former players have come together in support of ever popular Casillas as he begins his road to recovery.

Messi took to social media following his match winning display against Liverpool in the Champions League, to post a message for Casillas.

'I want to take this opportunity to send a hug to Iker Casillas. I wish him well and hope he recovers soon', he posted on his official Instagram page.

Messi reached 600 career goals fr Barcelona with a brace against Jurgen Klopp's side, however the Argentina international warned of complacency ahead of the second leg at Anfield – despite taking a 3-0 lead to England.
