Sevilla president: Joaquin Caparros appointment possible

Sevilla president Jose Castro has confirmed the club are considering appointing Joaquin Caparros as permanent Coach beyond this summer.

Caparros, who had previously been Director of Football at the club, replaced Pablo Machin in the role last month and has overseen an upturn in results.

“Of course, Joaquin Caparros is an option, but in any case, we must always wait at the end of the season,” Castro told reporters, as cited by El Espanol.

“I think now is the time to continue adding points and enjoy that he is bringing joy in terms of play and results in the team.

“Joaquin transmits good things, we must wait. (Sporting director) Monchi gives us peace of mind and is the number one in his field, says that Joaquin has evolved a lot.

“He is the brains behind this template and he knows what system to use to get the best out of this team and he believes in these players, which is showing in the results.

“Results are important for us and put us in the right direction.”

The 63-year-old explained earlier this month that he has chronic leukaemia but has promised he will continue in his role without restrictions.
