Real Madrid defender Dani Carvajal has lauded the ‘bravery’ shown by Zinedine Zidane in his decision to re-join the club last month.
The Frenchman was reappointed at the outgoing European champions just nine points after resigning his position, with the club set to finish the season trophyless.
The Spain international has now claimed the return of the Coach – who won three European Cups in 30 months in his first stint – is the ‘best thing’ that could have happened to the squad.
“The return of Zidane is the best thing that could have happened for us,” Carvajal told an interview with Marca.
“He is very brave to return to the club now in the situation we are in, but we are all very happy he has done.
“None of us have played at our best level this season and whilst we have achieved a lot of history together, football thinks in the present and has no memory.”
