Rio Ave defender Fabio Coentrao has spoken of his exit from Real Madrid: “I would like to tell some things, but I cannot.”
Now aged 31, the full-back left Madrid permanently last summer having also spent season-long loan deals at both Monaco and Sporting CP.
“A lot of things happened and if I could explain what happened on August 31, you would realise what I went through…I would like to talk but unfortunately I cannot,” Coentrao told reporters, as cited by El Espanol.
“I have had a beautiful career, full of titles, I played in the best clubs in the world and now, fortunately, I have come back home.
“I do not look back, where I could potentially be, I'm here now and I just want to help keep Rio Ave in the Primiera.”
