Diego Simeone trusts Diego Costa “until death” and is hopeful the striker stays at the club beyond the current season.
The Spain international is unavailable for Atletico Madrid’s clash with Girona on Tuesday but Simeone is hopeful he decides to stay in the Spanish capital beyond this season.
“I trust Diego Costa until death and I hope he stays next year,” Simeone told reporters on Monday.
“I have complete confidence in him, he is a hugely important player for us and it is no coincidence that we have started winning trophies again since his return.
“Will Costa and Morata be back for the game against Barcelona? We can only take this game by game, we do not look further ahead than the next game.
“Antoine Griezmann? We are very happy with him, he did not want to come up when we were 3-0 up (at Alaves) because that is the nature of him, he is a captain and a leader.
“He has a great relationship with the rest of the team and we are confident he will start scoring goals again soon.”
