AS: Real Madrid eye Seedorf as short term Solari replacement

Real Madrid could turn to former player Clarence Seedorf, if they choose to replace manager Santiago Solari before the end of the season.

According to reports in Diario AS today, the club have placed the Dutchman on their list of candidates to take over on a short term basis, should Solari be dismissed.

Seedorf, who won a La Liga and a Champions League title during four years at the club between 1996 and 2000, was at the Santiago Bernabeu on Tuesday night to witness Los Blancos' defeat to Ajax, and he attended a club function afterwards.

He reportedly spoke with club president Florentino Perez at the event and has since been placed on the shortlist, despite currently managing the Cameroonian national team.

Seedorf had a brief spell in charge of Deportivo la Coruna at the back end of last season, and despite not being able to save them from relegation to the Segunda Division, he left the club on good terms.

A deal until the end of the season could benefit both sides, as it allows Real Madrid to make a longer term decision in the summer and Cameroon are without a competitive fixture after April.
