Isco to remain sidelined for Ajax clash

Real Madrid midfielder Isco remains sidelined with a back problem, and will miss their Champions League clash with Ajax on Wednesday night.

According to a report in Marca this morning, the Spanish international has been diagnosed with acute dorsalgia – a condition which affects the lower back – by the club's medical staff.

The former Malaga player missed Saturday's Madrid derby win over Atletico Madrid, with initial assessments indicating that he would only be absent for a short period.

However this update from the club appears to confirm his absence from the midweek trip to the Netherlands, and potentially crucial games in the remainder of the month.

He has fallen out of favour in recent months, not starting a La Liga game since Santiago Solari took over as manager, however he was expected to see some game time in the coming weeks, due to Real Madrid's hectic schedule.
