Atletico Madrid fitness coach Oscar Ortega arrested for ‘gender violence’

Atletico Madrid fitness coach Oscar Ortega has been released without bail after an arrest for ‘gender violence’ in the Spanish capital on Monday.

The Uruguayan has been part of Diego Simeone’s coaching staff across various clubs since 2006 and is renowned for his tough fitness regime at Atleti.

Ortega has previously worked at Real Zaragoza and Malaga, before stints at River Plate, San Lorenzo and Catania, before joining Los Rojiblancos with Simeone in 2011.

He appeared in court in the Madrid district of Majadahonda on Tuesday while the club presented Alvaro Morata as a new signing.
