Denis Suarez ‘still has future at Barcelona’ – Ernesto Valverde

Barcelona midfielder Denis Suarez still has a future with the club and is available for selection, Coach Ernesto Valverde has confirmed.

Various reports have linked the 25-year-old with a January transfer to Arsenal and he has only played 17 minutes of La Liga action this season, and is mainly deployed in the Copa del Rey.

“Denis is in a different position to Munir, because Denis can play for us in any match and he is always available,” Valverde told reporters, as cited by Diario Sport, when asked over the player’s potential future at the club.

“The reality is he was with our squad when we went to Getafe on Sunday and he is always competing to be in the squad, so yes he does have a future.

“This is a period of the season when fixtures come thick and fast and we will need to make rotations, I am aware of this and so are the players.

“Every game now we believe there will be a few changes, between league fixtures and those in the Copa all players available have a chance.

“Messi and Luis Suarez? Yes, it’s a possibility they could be rested.”
