Real Madrid’s Casemiro to return for Villarreal clash

Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro is set to return to the first-team after almost two months out with an ankle injury, according to reports.

The Brazilian sustained the injury in early November’s victory at Celta Vigo but is now poised to return for Thursday night’s trip to Villarreal.

The holding midfielder has been replaced in the starting line-up by Marcos Llorente, who himself has now sustained an injury in his adductor muscle.

Casemiro, 26, has started 14 times for Los Blancos this campaign but due to Llorente’s fine form it was unclear if he would automatically be recalled back into the team.
