Arsenal look to Sevilla’s Ever Banega

Arsenal will return in their attempts to sign Sevilla midfielder Ever Banega in January, according to reports.

Argentine outlet Rosario 3 say the Gunners are willing to offer the €20m release clause for the central midfielder as they look to reinforce their squad.

The Argentine international joined the Seville-based club initially in 2014 under the behest of Unai Emery, now at the helm of Arsenal, who had managed him for three seasons at Valencia.

The 29-year-old became a key component across the following two campaigns at Sevilla, helping them to a further two European titles before departing for Inter in 2016 when Emery left for Paris Saint-Germain.

Banega returned to the Andalusian club last following an unsuccessful season in Italy.

Reports last summer in Estadio Deportivo stated Emery had personally phoned the midfielder in a bid to convince him to join the North London club.
