Real Madrid’s Marco Asensio set for four weeks out

Real Madrid forward Marco Asensio is set to miss four weeks of action with a quadriceps injury, it is reported in Spain.

Los Blancos have confirmed the Spain international will miss Saturday’s Club World Cup final against Al Ain after sustaining the injury in the semi-final against Kashima Antlers.

However, a report in Diario AS evaluates such an injury typically last for around four weeks – which will see the 22-year-old miss a series of games in the New Year.

Madrid face league tests against Villarreal, Real Sociedad, Real Betis and Sevilla in January alongside the Copa del Rey double-header against Leganes.

Asensio has appeared in 24 matches for Madrid this season, netting three goals.
