Tottenham’s Fernando Llorente ‘would like’ Athletic Club Bilbao return

Tottenham Hotspur striker Fernando Llorente is open to a return to Athletic Club Bilbao, where he spent eight years of his career.

The 33-year-old netted 118 goals between 2004 and 2012 at San Mames but has only 13 minutes across 16 Premier League games this season.

“My aim is to have an important role in a team,” Llorente told an interview with Cadena Ser.

“Would I want to return to Athletic? Yes I would like to return, if I had the opportunity to do so and if they want to speak to me.

“There is the option of another year on my contract here (at Tottenham) but the decision does not depend on me, it is up to the clubs to negotiate.”

Llorente spent two seasons at Juventus after leaving Athletic before representing both Sevilla and Swansea City.
