Barcelona open Jordi Alba contract talks – report

Barcelona are ready to offer a three-year contract extension to full-back Jordi Alba but there is interest from other clubs, say reports.

Alba’s contract is about to enter its final 18 months, despite the Spaniard being Barca’s first-choice left-back but El Mundo Deportivo say an offer of extension until 2023 will be offered.

The 29-year-old wants to commit his long-term future to the club but the Blaugrana are said to have delayed the offer for economic purposes.

Juventus and Manchester United are reported to hold an interest in the Spain international, fueled by the defender’s apparent unhappiness at not being offered a new deal earlier.

The left-back’s current deal at the Camp Nou expires in June 2020 and possesses a €150m release clause but he wants an improved contract.

Alba has played more than 250 matches for Barca after his 2012 move from Valencia with his last renewal penned in 2015.
