Marcelo tells Isco to ‘work hard’ for Real Madrid place

Real Madrid vice-captain Marcelo has instructed Isco to focus and ‘work hard’ after being excluded from the squad against Roma on Tuesday.

The 26-year-old has not started any of Coach Santiago Solari’s six matches in charge and has accumulated just 82 minutes of total game-time but was not even on the substitute’s bench in Rome.

“I’m not someone to give out advice,” Marcelo told reporters, as cited by Diario Sport.

“All of us are adults, we are fathers, we have families and we need to know how to be professional, everyone wants to play and if you want to play then you must work.

“I’m not saying that he (Isco) is not working but when you see you have made a mistake you must improve.”

Madrid won 2-0 in Roma thanks to goals from Gareth Bale and Lucas Vazquez.
