Barcelona fear Ousmane Dembele ‘gaming addiction’

Barcelona are concerned that forward Ousmane Dembele has developed a gaming addiction which is compromising his discipline.

A report in Diario AS claims a recent claim from the French forward that he missed training due to stomach discomfort was not true and was instead because he was playing games with friends.

Earlier this month, RAC1 and El Mundo Deportivo reported the former Rennes and Borussia Dortmund forward was AWOL from training for 90 minutes because of alleged gastroenteritis.

However, tests from the club’s medical staff are said to have found no symptoms of stomach pain, prompting Barca to explore other possibilities for the absence.

There are said to be numerous examples of the 21-year-old’s poor time-keeping skills and supposed ‘carelessness’, where he loses concept of time due to gaming.

Such an addiction is said to require professional treatment while the Blaugrana are also exploring other ways to help Dembele put any disciplinary issues behind him, says the report.
