Quique Setien: Real Betis ‘dominated’ Milan

Real Betis boss Quique Setien felt his side should have come away with more than a 1-1 draw against Milan as ‘we were completely dominant’ at times.

Giovani Lo Celso’s opener was cancelled out by an effort from Milan’s Spain international Suso in the second half, although Betis remain top of Europa League Group F by a point.

“Considering the team we faced, we’re happy to have taken four points out of six against them,” Setien said after the game.

“Having said that, the draw means little to us because in the first half we were completely dominant.

“In the second half they played well but we didn’t suffer much. We reshuffled and had one final push, when we should’ve taken some of the chances we had.

“However, keep in mind that we were facing an extraordinary team. It’s normal that they had their moments.

“No team can control games completely and less so at this level. I think we had our clearest chances at the end of the game, although we had to go into half-time with a better lead.

“I think we deserved the victory because even though they had their moments, they didn’t create the chances that we did.

“To be at this level with a small squad makes us happy. Finishing top must now be our objective.”
