Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro admits Sunday’s 5-1 defeat at Barcelona ‘sums up’ the club’s disastrous season to date.
Madrid have now lost four and won just one of their last six matches in all competitions with the weekend’s capitulation at Camp Nou another harrowing result.
“Our performance today sums up the entire season for us,” Casemiro told reporters, as cited by Diario AS.
“The result reflects how we have played and it shows that we are not the way we should be, and the blame needs to go to the players and not to the Coach.
“This goes beyond tactics and it goes beyond our attitude, it encompasses everything and we all need to take responsibility for it.
“The players need to fight more and give their all because this result is what we have been doing all season until now.
“We cannot speak about the Coach because it is the players who are to blame, we are not playing well enough and we need to work harder.
“We are only playing in small patches but we need to be patient, we know we can fix things but at the minute we need to question ourselves.”
