Real Madrid playmaker Isco has backed under-fire Coach Julen Lopetegui: “If you sack him you have to sack all of us.”
The remarks come amid reports the former Spain boss is on the brink at the Bernabeu but Isco – who excelled for the national team under the Coach – has come to his defence.
“If you sack the Coach you have to sack all of us,” Isco told reporters on Monday, as cited by Diario AS.
“We are only two months into the season and you have to let him to do his job and then for the players to go and play on the pitch.
“You cannot blame results on the pitch, it is a collective issue with all the players involved too, and we believe we can turn it around.
“We trust in Lopetegui and believe he will turn it around, we believe in ourselves and we do not think the press alone have the ability to sack a Coach.
“He did a fantastic job with Spain and he is trying to replicate that here, and his ideas of playing have had an impact on all of us.
“At the moment results are not coming our way but this is football and we have faith in ourselves to turn this situation around.”
