Real Madrid fans want Antonio Conte

A poll run by Football Espana saw almost three quarters of Real Madrid fans call for Antonio Conte to become their next Coach.

Madrid slumped to their fifth game without a win on Saturday, losing 2-1 to Levante in a match that saw them go the longest without a goal in their 116-year history.

Consequently the ante has been upped on Lopetegui, who sacrificed taking Spain to the 2018 World Cup for the top job at the Santiago Bernabeu.

We asked 1,070 Blancos fans whether they would prefer to stick with the Spaniard or for Conte to come in, and only 27 percent wanted the former.

That was balanced by the other 73% campaigning for the 49-year-old, who is currently out of work after leaving Chelsea over the summer.

A former Italy midfielder, Conte led Juventus to three Scudetti and the Azzurri to the Euro 2016 quarter-finals, before being crowned a Premier League champion with the Blues.

However, he was sacked for a disappointing title defence and is in the midst of a contractual dispute with Chelsea over his dismissal.

Conte is understood to have held talks with Los Merengues’ hierarchy earlier in the week.
