Real Madrid ‘hold talks’ with Antonio Conte

Real Madrid have opened talks with Antonio Conte as Julen Lopetegui’s position as Coach looks increasingly precarious, according to reports.

The claims come from both Sportitalia and the Corriere dello Sport in the midst of Madrid’s poor run of form, losing three of their last four in which they have not scored once.

It follows on from a report last week in Diario AS that Conte is ‘the only top Coach without a team’ while current Madrid B team Coach and former winger Santiago Solari is also being considered.

Madrid are said to have given Lopetegui until the end of the month to turn things around with upcoming fixtures against Levante, Viktoria Plzen and Barcelona.

There are suggestions too that Chelsea would need to be paid compensation should Conte be appointed elsewhere before next summer as he is still being paid by the West London club.

Solari, 41, has been in charge of the club’s Castilla team since 2016 where he replaced Zinedine Zidane in 2016.
