Former Barcelona captain Andres Iniesta is ‘excited’ by the prospect of facing his former club in a friendly with Vissel Kobe.
Barca are said to be restructuring their pre-season schedule with suggestions their sponsorship deal with Rakuten could lead to a friendly against the Japanese club, who the company own.
“It is an exciting possibility and it would be fantastic,” Iniesta is cited as saying by Marca.
“It would be an unprecedented opportunity not only for me but for the Japanese supporters too.
“I would like to be able to offer the team more, I’m now adapting to life in Japan – Kobe is a wonderful city!”
Iniesta, 34, ended a 22-year association with Barca over summer to join the Far East club.
