Jordi Alba has described how Lionel Messi ‘eats at a different table’ to any other player to illustrate his greatness for Barcelona.
Speaking after the Blaugrana’s 4-2 victory at Tottenham in Wednesday’s Champions League clash, the full-back spoke in glowing terms of Man of the Match Messi.
“He is the best player in the world, it is not a conversation,” Alba said, as cited by El Mundo Deportivo.
“It is clear that he has a lot of attacking talent and you could see that once more here, as you can do in every game, but it was all aspects of this performance that were so good including defensively.
“The truth is that when Messi plays to his level, it improves all of us, we try to raise our game to supplement him and that was the case here (against Tottenham).
“Messi eats at a different table to us, I said the same thing when I was at Valencia – there is not one aspect of his game that is not at the top level.
“Nobody can compare to him, it is that simple.”
