Gennaro Gattuso: Andre Silva wanted to leave Milan for Sevilla

Milan boss Gennaro Gattuso has reiterated it was Andre Silva’s decision to join Sevilla on loan with the Italian club not wanting his exit.

The Portuguese striker joined the Andalusian club on a season-long loan deal from the Rossoneri and has already netted seven goals in seven La Liga games.

“Andre Silva was the one who decided to leave, nobody here threw him out,” Gattuso told reporters, as cited by ABC de Sevilla.

“Now he is scoring goals, we did everything we could to make him stay, it was like Bacca joining Villarreal.”

Silva joined Milan in a €40m deal from FC Porto last year but scored just two Serie A goals in 24 appearances.
