Sergio Gonzalez credits ‘spirit’ of Real Valladolid players

Real Valladolid boss Sergio Gonzalez has praised the ‘spirit’ of his team after they picked up their first victory of the season over Levante.

Valladolid dominated proceedings but fell behind at the start of the second half before goals from Enes Unal and Nacho Martinez gave the newly-promoted side their first victory of the campaign.

“We played a very, very good match,” Gonzalez is cited as telling reporters by Marca.

“In the first half, we were better but could not force home the advantage, but to fall behind was tough. Before and after that the spirit of the team was demonstrable.

“Above everything else I am happy for the players, we have tried to isolate them from our points tally and trying to emphasise how well they have done.”
