Diego Costa: Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid want to kill each other

Diego Costa has spoken how Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid ‘want to kill’ each other during derby matches ahead of Saturday’s clash.

In a wide-ranging interview, the Spain international spoke of the game before talking about Atletico at large and his own personal form.

“We always have to beat Real Madrid, and they want to kill us too,” Costa told an interview with Marca.

“We want to be more offensive, to score more goals and we know these will arrive, the team behind us (the forwards) will ensure this will happen.

“My own barren run? I need a goal, and I am bothered by it, this is natural. I’m not getting the opportunities, but this is not my teammates fault, it is just the way it is – things will change.

“Griezmann? I understood his doubts, people were persuading him that he needed a change, and that was what happened to me before.

“People who don’t know him were very opinionated, but he remained true to his real desire and that was to stay here, which I knew would be the case.

“My return? Cholo (Diego Simeone) was very important because I love him as a Coach and as a person, he is such a fantastic Coach.

“The club has grown so much since I left, there is a new stadium, better players and world champions – this is the difference.

“We have big ambitions and anything can happen this season, we know we must continue working hard.”
