Diego Costa admits Atletico Madrid ‘cannot criticise’ the pitch at Monaco or use it as an excuse due to their own stadium.
The Spain international admitted the poor condition of the pitch ensured ‘difficult conditions’ but admitted it was similar to that of the Wanda.
“We cannot criticise the pitch, because ours is also not in a good condition,” Costa is cited as saying by Marca.
“It is true the pitch at Monaco is not good but neither is the one at the Wanda Metropolitano, we must accept this truth and admit we are used to this.
“It was a tough game especially when falling behind, then you need to work your way back into the match in difficult conditions.
“But we know how to suffer and we know how to dig in and we did that for an important victory.
“Antoine Griezmann? We all know his quality, it is a privilege to play alongside him.”
