Sevilla’s Carrico wants Sporting CP return

Long-serving Sevilla defender Daniel Carrico has hinted he would like to rejoin Sporting CP in the near future: “To return? You never know.”

The Cascais-native started his career at Sporting before having spells with AEL Limassol and Reading, before joining Sevilla in 2013.

“To return? You never know. I'm in Seville and I have a contract with the club, but you never know,” Carrico told reporters, as cited by ABC de Sevilla, after voting in Sporting’s presidential elections on Sunday.

The 30-year-old is the longest-serving player in the club’s squad following the summer departure of Nico Pareja to Mexican club Atlas.

The arrivals of Sergi Gomez and Joris Gnagnon this summer alongside the presence of Simon Kjaer and Gabriel Mercado mean opportunities for the experienced defender will be limited.
