Diego Simeone accepts ‘the responsibility is mine’ for Atletico Madrid’s 2-0 defeat to Celta Vigo but believes it was ‘a good wakeup call’.
Goals from Maxi Gomez and Iago Aspas inflicted Atleti’s first defeat of the season, prompting Simeone to hold himself accountable.
“The match was a good wakeup call, first for me,” the Coach said after the game.
“We already had 10 poor minutes at the end against Rayo, and today it happened to us at the start of the second half.
“The absolute responsibility is mine because obviously I wasn’t clear at half-time. We didn’t play well and Celta were strong at the start of the second half.
“In the first half we could’ve made better choices but we didn’t. After that, they killed off the match in five minutes and deserved to win.”
