La Real confident on Barca game

Real Sociedad remain confident their Anoeta stadium will be fit to host Barcelona on 15 September despite La Liga concerns.

Renovation work has been ongoing at the ground since the end of last season with recent images casting doubt that such reforms will be complete for the game.

La Real are playing their first three matches of the campaign away from home and the league are keen to avoid a repeat of Rayo Vallecano’s renovation, which has closed their stadium until mid-October.

“The reform of Anoeta is very broad, but we are meeting the deadlines,” club president Jokin Aperribay told Cadena Cope.

“No one said that it would be easy to arrive at a completion date of 15 September, but it will come. We are quietly busy.

“They have told us the things that we must fulfil these obligations so that the match can go ahead. The pressure in these last four months has been brutal, but we think we are going ahead.”
