Berizzo questions league postponement

Athletic Club Bilbao boss Eduardo Berizzo has called on La Liga to find a way of playing their upcoming tie with Rayo Vallecano.

On Monday, the league announced the match would be postponed due to Rayo’s El Campo de Futbol de Vallecas closed due to ongoing renovation work until mid-October.

“The most convenient thing is for us to play the game,” Berizzo told reporters after his side’s 2-2 draw with Huesca.

“There is the option of changing the home team so that the ties are switched, or an alternative is that it is played in another stadium in Madrid.

“Suspending the match should be the last resort with all paths explored of playing the game.”

The Argentine Coach also expressed frustration at his side’s inability to hold onto their two-goal lead over Huesca.

“We stopped attacking and they took advantages of the shift in the momentum,” Berizzo continued.

“We cannot allow these situations to happen, we have to be able to control these situations and maintain our position within the game.”
